I’ve been remiss in sharing with you. Here are three new songs for you to check out. Go buy em if you like em.

This is one of those songs that I put on and yelled, “Fuck yeah!”, startling my wife, asleep on the couch behind me. Lets see… If you decided not to listen to this, even though I recommended it and linked to it, what would I tell you about it?

I suppose I’d start by reminding you of the imagery of Iceland evoked by Bjork in the music video for Isobel. Now think of the creepy forest in the Radiohead video for There There, thin trees streching high, dark claws for branches. And now walk through those woods just after sunset, and try not to get lost. Follow Hildur Ingveldardóttir Gudnadóttir’s voice, and be comforted in the fact that she has created those woods you walk through.

Some people say that 12 tone music has no future. I’ve never met them, but I’m assured they’re out there. All I can say is fuck them, I love this stuff. Give me more.

Francoiz Breut – Over All [play] [buy]

A friend named Alvin gave me about 50 albums last year, and in January I stumbled across Ms. Breut. She’s got that french woman attitude, sexiness, and accent, that makes all her music… lip-lickable… I guess…

Anyway, I got hooked on her 2nd album, Vingt a Trente Mille Jours, and it changed my world a fair amount. Her latest album wasn’t quite as impressive to me, but track 3, Over All, just rocked my world. I stopped the car and sung along the first time it came on. And it surprised me at each turn. Loved it. And, there’s a line about Werewolves that makes your skin tingle.

Iron & Wine – Upward Over the Mountain [play] [buy]

I found this song around the end of December. The first time I heard it, it impressed me, the second time, it made my cry. Every time since then (and there have been many), it has made me choke back a little sob. The song itself is beautifully structured, but the story is paints is one that evokes a nostalgic sorrow, even while you smile. I’ll spare you more details.

It seems to me that these songs can speak for themselves, and I’m not at my most eloquent anyhow. I’ll post more tunes for you to hear, but perhaps less descriptions. Enjoy.

Please, please, leave some thoughts in the comments.
