Jan 22

Hello again, sorry to miss last week’s post, I was driving back from the snowy north. Here is another song and a poem to go along with it. Expect this to last at least one more week, then I’ll write about some new songs I found in January.

Loreena McKennit โ€“ Night Ride Across the Caucaus [play] [buy]

In words, I find the ability to express my deepest desires and wants.
You are like a torch that burns my brain into cinders.
Whatever madness this is, it is not the end of me, or you,
Only a continuation of what we started with a kiss.

Dizzy circles of black fairies swirling overhead,
You draw deeper to your embrace of the Lord of the Morning,
And with him, the human race.

You become Mother Nature in her full bloom,
Trees, mountains, flowers, volcanoes, birds, humans,
Everything nice, and not.

Intrigue draws you back to court however,
And with your new body,
You begin to ply for power,

But Nature was ever weak,
And the air becomes polluted no matter your efforts,
And the tentacles of fear begin to embrace you as the Morning once did.

Boiling tides wash over you pulled by some force not quite equal to you in power,
But much less helpless.
The Moon is suppose to be your sister, or daughter,
But you feel no closeness with her.

As your gardens slowly burn away,
And your valleys fill with refuse,
You begin to turn in on your thoughts,
And dream of a different place,

And that dream, as it is dreamed by so large an entity,
Becomes a reality,
And there is a new body for you to move to,
But first you must rid your self of the old,

So you change things, cause things,
Things that you had no idea were foretold in some book at the end of another book,
And you drop your dead husk into the cosmos, and move,

And never give a thought to the other body,
Because your children wasted that one,
And for all purposes murdered you.

Little do you know that this new body is no different,
There is one Moon,
And one Morning embracing you anew,

And many children who now you see with the eyes of a new mother,
But who soon will turn on you, whether intentionally or in your mind,
And you will leave your new husk for something better.
