No, that’s not a real title, there is no robot rabbit present in the works of Cornelius, but I think the Rabbit likes to listen to Cornelius’s music as it drifts off into dreamland, watching its spectral progeny flow across the globe until all the world is filled with mechanical rabbits, all singing in tune to the sound of Cornelius.

I’ll post a song from his new album eventually, but I thought I would give you the pleasure of experiencing Cornelius the way I first did: With this singularly WTF? song.
The previously mentioned rabbit is an apt image here. The focus of the song drifts around for a while, leading into the monkey references, then the song begins in earnest, and the speed increases and increases until it seems the whole monkey caravan is going to collapse in a tangled heap on the dusty road. (There is of course the adorable lull to allow the bassoon to catch up.)
But it doesn’t collapse. And I think we can learn something here. I think that Cornelius shows us in most of his songs that anything is possible if you just execute it properly. If you’re going to push something, don’t cop out and let it unravel, take it to its end. Its the mark of a great artist.
